The world's most advanced CT scanner
Scott & White is the first dedicated children's hospital in Texas, and third in the country, to install the latest in computed tomography (CT) technology: the Somatom Definition Flash CT system from Siemens Healthcare.
CT takes a series of cross-sectional X-ray images one slice at a time in a full-circle rotation, and a computer then converts the images into a detailed picture set of inside the body.
The new Flash CT produces higher quality images at more than twice the speed of most CT systems used in children's hospitals in the United States. The unit also uses a lower radiation dose, making it ideal fo the pediatric setting.
