The governing boards of Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare announced today the completion of the merger of the two health systems to form the largest not-for-profit health system in the state of Texas.
McLane Children's launches new helicopter transport
The children's transport program at McLane Children’s Scott & White has added an air ambulance to its assets. The new helicopter went into service today, making another layer of critical care transportation available when children are sick or injured and need to be brought to McLane Children’s.
McLane Children's verified as Level II pediatric trauma center
McLane Children’s Hospital Scott & White has been verified as a Level II pediatric trauma center, making it the only pediatric trauma center in the region. McLane Children’s executives were notified of the result and verification on July 1, following site visits by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma.

McLane Children's Hospital and Clinics physicians, staff and leadership, along with the construction crews, held a brief "topping out" ceremony today on the lawn in front of the specialty clinic building project. Construction of the five-story building has reached its highest point with the frame of the fifth floor completed.

Every year, an estimated 3.8 million recreation and sport-related concussions occur in professional, collegiate and youth sports. Eighty-five percent of those concussions go undiagnosed meaning that many athletes go back to the field too soon, risking greater injuries, according to the American College of Sports Medicine. New emergency room specifically for children
Last year Scott & White Healthcare saw 16,000 children in our emergency rooms and cared for nearly 400 children involved in trauma, a number that continues to increase each year. Serving the growing population of pediatric aged patients is the principal reason for the creation of the pediatric-specific emergency medicine department in the new Children’s Hospital at Scott & White. World's most advanced CT in place at Children's Hospital

Ronald McDonald room almost complete
A special suite for parents, part of the new Children’s Hospital at Scott & White, is nearing completion and will be ready when the hospital opens October 4, 2011. Named the Ronald McDonald House Family Respite Room, or Ronald Room for short, it is a suite that allows parents to step away from the traditional hospital environment.
